We'll probably run a lot zone in order to maximize our strengths in
different pre-assigned roles, and minimize physical mismatches in
Open play. These are the two we are practicing:
- Clam (aka a
Poachy Cup): will probably be our most common
zone. Pablo has already practiced with many of you for at
least the past two years. Read that link first!
- 2-3-1-1: as run by MaestrXL at BUOC last year, is very
similar. We should only play it 4 or so points per game,
and not all in a row. The roles are the same as in Clam,
except Clamidia becomes a Short Deep, interfacing between the
deep and the second 3 cut defenders.
The combination of these two Zones can be very effective because
they look similar but offenses need to do very different things to
beat them.
